IT’S HERE!

Wow – time travels so fast!  I can’t believe that it is almost time for the Color Me Well Art Exhibit and Auction event.  Even this week we have enrolled another artist to exhibit and even today continue to be blessed with wonderful donations for our auction!  I cannot express enough the sincere gratitude to those of you who have been actively involved with this event and how you have contributed to the success to come!  I could not have done it without you – you know who you are!  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

I can not wait to meet the many people that will attend!  See you there!

ONE WEEK

Well here we are one week away from the big day!  I’m so excited!  I am amazed that I still have many generous people making donations still!  Please continue to share this event with everyone you know – let’s have a record-breaking number of people attend the event!  Thanks you everyone for your generosity and love!

Event Updates

Good evening all -

Houston is a fabulous city – there are so many caring and sharing people.  I have never experienced this kindness to the extend that I have since my journey with Color Me Well began!  I look forward to meeting many, many more.

Today has been a very successful day.  The wine for the event has been secured!  Thanks to Messina Hof for their contribution and dedication to the success of this great event! 

Please note that the time of the event had to be moved back one hour – Color Me Well will now be held from 1:00pm – 5:00pm – same date November 15th!

Progress

Progress is sweet! So many things are happening it is hard to keep up.  Color Me Well is now a fundraising event for The Weathervane Foundation and Amy Cordova Scott! 

UNreasonable requests – you read it right!  It is amazing when your are committed to something (not attached) and you ask for unreasonable requests – it is amazing the outcome.  But you know – it is even okay if someone says no or let me think about it!

• We received our first Sponsorship – Gold Level from Money Management International…Thanks for your support!
• The Harleys Angels will be attending our event and selling their calendars for 2010 – proceeds will be provided to Weathervane. 
• Bayou City Art Festival – the artist were amazing!  We received @ 30 donations from artists at this event!  Thanks to each one of you – your support for this cause is amazing!
• Raffle items are coming in – still working on large items to help sell the tickets!  Any suggestions or ideas will be welcomed!

Good evening all -

Color Me Well is transforming…I met with Fran Padgett who is the founder of The Weathervane Foundation, Inc.  Fran is a breast cancer survivor, author and artist.  We talked about the opportunities of joining forces.  I will be meeting with the Board of Directors this coming Saturday.  The road for Color Me Well is very bright.  Please stay tuned for updates!

Progression

Sorry it has been so long since my last blog…things are progressing very quickly!  I never imagined the work and details behind creating such an event.  I truly have a new found respect for people who do this regularly!  I have met with my accountant and the legal issues behind forming a nonprofit organization are overwhelming and very time consuming!  I have discovered that I will not be unable to get set up as a nonprofit by the time of the event.  So we are now refocusing on this avenue.  CMW will need to align ourselves with an established nonprofit organization!

Never fear – this will be a successful event.  The CMW committee will be unreasonable in our requests and will jump any hurdles in our way!  I have the faith and belief that we will succeed! 

I spoke with Amy yesterday.  She has completed her round of radiation and is scheduled for her next Chemo treatment on Thursday.  She is such a fighter!  Her attitude is positive and she remains focused on her recovery!  Our thoughts and prayers are with you Amy – you are an inspiration to us all!

Call To Artist

Another week has flown by…they just go by too fast!  Finally began getting the Call To Artist out.  Will be working on getting many more out over the next week!  Next…get the postcards printed and distributed.  Progress is sweet!  Stay tuned for much, much more!  Have a great Labor Day weekend and stay safe!

Whew!

After 5 long grueling hours, Michele Patrick and I have hammered out an Exhibit Prospetus and a Call to Artists press release.  Sigh.

It’s now 11:11pm and our eyes are getting sleepy and we’re getting silly… that can only mean one thing… it’s time to go night night.

Seriously though, we’re both so excited that this endeavor is coming to fruition and hope you’ll be a part of it, big or small come November 15th!  This project has brought us closer together and we hope it does the same for the artists of Houston… for a successful outcome for Amy!

Happy Friday Everyone!  Thanks for checking up on the Color Me Well progress.  We are picking up momentum each day.  I am totally amazed at the wonderful people in this great city.  Everyone is so giving – even with the state of the economy!  I have met so many wonderful people since the start of this project.  Let me tell you; this would not happen without you!

I look forward to meeting many more!  Have a Fabulous Friday!  Keep checking back – now that I have received some training on this blogging stuff – I will keep updating!
